Comrades got nothing from their trip to County Armagh where they were beaten in a Championship Division 1 encounter. Loughgall proved to be too strong for Gordon Chambers' outfit at Lakeview Park where they turned round one up, and then turned on the style in the second session to run out easy 4-1 winners. Following two clean sheets, the Comrades defence was unchanged except for Paddy Flood taking over in goal for Allen Huxley who was injured in training. Johnny Gowdy, the former Newry City midfielder, came in for Kyle Agnew, with Mark McClelland paired with Anto Crawford in attack while leading scorer Ricky Moore had a place on the bench. Loughgall were mainly on the offensive, with the Reds defence superbly marshalled by Andy Long, being stretched on several occasions, without Flood being seriously tested. Home strikes either side of the interval effectively settled the issue. Matty Burrows back on loan from Glentoran opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a header from a left wing cross, and two minutes in to the second session Burrows was the provider for Hand to double the lead. On the hour towering centre half Murphy, who so often has been the scourge of Ballyclare in his Armagh City days, did it again when he nodded home from a corner, but Crawford offered the travelling fans hope eleven minutes from time when he converted a penalty following an alleged pulling incident in the box. This proved to be a temporary respite, with 'Gall regaining their three goals' lead through substitute McDowell near the end. Commenting Gordon Chambers said: "Loughgall traditionally has been a difficult place for us, and so it proved again on this occasion. Gareth Curlett received an ankle injury in the first half and will be doubtful for this weekend. Loughgall kept us on the back foot, but the introduction of the three substitutes injected some life in to our performance, and the goal we got was from a rather soft penalty."
