Comrades were sent crashing out of the Co-Op Insurance Cup on Tuesday night losing 5-3 on aggregate to rivals Carrick Rangers.
They went into the game trailing 3-2 after the first leg at Dixon Park but despite a valiant effort, which saw them dominate the first half, they were unable to progress to the second round.
Simon McGowan opened the scoring for the Reds with a fine goal midway through the first half but,Carrick's Darren McNamee equalised early in the second period as Carrick surged back into the game.
It was McNamee who later netted from a disputed penalty to give the home side a 2-1 victory on the night. Comrades evening was made worse when Simon McGowan was red carded late on for a second booking.
